Renovation of a mixed-use development in Waterbury, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Pursuant to this Request for Proposal ("RFP"), the City of Waterbury, Department of Education (the "City"), is seeking proposals from third parties (each a "proposer" or "contractor" and, collectively, "proposers" or "contractors") to remove and replace the front entry doors at Driggs Elementary School ("Driggs") and Woodrow Wilson ("Wilson") Elementary School (the "Project") located at 77 Woodlawn Terrace and 235 Birch Street, respectively, in Waterbury, Connecticut. Kennedy High School at 422 Highland Avenue, Waterbury, CT is a proposal alternate. DRIGGS ELEMENTARY The selected contractor will remove the existing metal doors, side panels, and wooden arch. New doors with a matching arch featuring glass inlays will be installed while preserving the arch's shape to align with the brick arch at the school's entrance. The side panels will be solid to ensure privacy and prevent unwanted visibility. The doors and arch will be constructed separately, allowing for future door replacements without altering the arch. The arch will incorporate glass inlays to allow natural daylight to enter. The openings will be matched precisely to the existing arch. Additionally, the panels surrounding the arch will be made of aluminum, mirroring the inlay panels on the sides of the doors. Measurements must be taken by each vendors to ensure correct fit 2 WILSON ELEMENTARY The existing opening at Wilson Elementary must be fully enclosed with aluminum doors, consisting of two 36-inch doors. The remaining space should be filled with aluminum inlays. The bottom of the doors should also incorporate aluminum inlays to match the side panels. The entire length of the opening, approximately 10 feet (to be verified during the project walkthrough), must be fitted with glass inlays to allow natural light to enter. KENNEDY HIGH SCHOOL - ALTERNATE Install a new right-side swing door in place of the existing left-side swing door. The opening should be matched to the existing dimensions to maximize accessibility. The agreement period for any contract or purchase order resulting from this RFP is anticipated to be one hundred eighty (180) days from the issued Notice to Proceed ("NTP"). Question Deadline 05/16/2025 at 2:00 PM ET All questions and communications about this request for Proposal and submission requirements must be directed to the City of Waterbury at electronically. Responses to questions submitted via the City of Waterbury website at electronically by mat 21, 2025, 2:00 PM. If you have any procedural questions in this regard, please call the Purchasing Director at (203) 574-6748. Each proposal with a total cost greater than $50,000.00 submitted shall be accompanied by a proposal security (a Certified Check or Bid Bond) in the amount of ten (10) percent of the total proposal price. The proposer offered a contract with a total cost in execess of $50,000 must furnish to the City a one hundred (100) percent performance bond with a surety, and in a form, acceptable to the City. In the City's sole discretion, it may also require a one hundred (100) percent payment bond and/or other additional security with a surety, and in a form, acceptable to the City. The City reserves the right to award in part, to reject any and all proposals in whole or in part for misrepresentation or if the proposer is in default of any prior City contract, or if the proposal limits or modifies any of the terms and conditions and/or specifications of the RFP. The City also reserves the right to waive technical defects, irregularities and omissions if, in its judgment, the best interest of the City will be served. Bid date description: Proposals submitted must be bound, paginated, indexed and numbered consecutively. Proposers shall complete Attachment C addressed to Mr. McCaffery, which, in part, includes a statement by the proposer accepting all terms and conditions and requirements contained in the RFP, and which shall be signed by a duly authorized official of the organization submitting the proposal. In Attachment C, proposers shall also identify the name of a contact person, along with their telephone number, email address, if applicable, and address, who can be contacted for the purpose of clarifying the information contained in their response to this RFP. In addition to any other information required in Attachment C, proposers shall provide their firm's authorization and a request to any persons, firm, or corporation to furnish any information requested by the City of Waterbury in verification of the recitals included in its response to this RFP.
