Renovation of an educational facility in Brandon, Manitoba. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Comply with the requirements of this section when performing the following work, as outlined in Section 02 82 00 - Asbestos Abatement - Summary of Work, and applicable drawings to confirm locations and approximate quantities of asbestos materials. 1 Remove and dispose of up to one square metre of asbestos-containing textured plaster, if impacted on exterior overhangs and soffits, throughout. 2 Remove and dispose of up to one square metre of asbestos-containing stucco materials applied to interior walls and entrance foyers. 3 Remove and dispose of up to one square metre of asbestos-containing plaster and/or drywall joint compound applied to walls and ceilings throughout the impact areas. 4 The scope of work is to include, but not be limited to, materials identified during the site walkthrough, scope of work document, architectural drawings and as directed by the Environmental Consultant. 5 Work will also include the removal and disposal of all settled dust and debris and other identified asbestos-containing or potentially contaminated materials. 6 The Contractor is responsible for all final quantity determinations. 7 Perform asbestos removal by the full enclosure Type 2 as outlined in this specification. 8 Seal surfaces with sealer in all areas from which asbestos has been removed, and surfaces potentially contaminated with asbestos. 9 All work will be subject to inspection and air monitoring inside and outside the asbestos work area(s) by the Environmental Consultant. Any contamination of the surrounding areas, indicated by visual inspection or air monitoring, shall necessitate complete cleanup of affected areas by the Asbestos Removal Contractor, at no cost to the Owner. The Asbestos Removal Contractor recognizes that time is of the essence in remedying any noted contamination or other deficiencies. 1 Supply and installation of external duct insulation on all new exhaust ductwork and where otherwise shown and/or indicated on the drawings. 2 Supply and installation of external duct insulation on all ducts connected to the exterior of the building. The insulation shall extend 3.0 m, (10 feet) from the exterior wall or until the first modulating damper, whichever is longer. 3 Supply and installation of external duct insulation on all supply air ductwork removed through abatement contractor. Refer to mechanical M1 drawings for duct removal scope of work, external insulation for ductwork in ceiling space within project scope of work contains asbestos. .4 Supply and installation of external duct insulation for removed U-5 AHU intake air ductwork. .5 Supply and installation of external duct insulation for 40"x40" relief duct and 60"x44" exhaust duct run up through chase to roof. A Performance Bond of a Company Registered to Conduct the Business of a Surety in Manitoba, in the Form Attached to the Tender Documents, in the Amount of Fifty Percent (50%); of the Contract Price; and A Labour and Materials Payment Bond of a Company Registered to Conduct the Business of Surety in Manitoba, in the Form Attached to the Tender Documents, in the Amount of Fifty Percent (50%) of the Contract Price.
