Renovation of a municipal facility in Bedford, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

The Bedford County Department of Solid Waste is soliciting bids to furnish/provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to deliver the turnkey installation of a resurfaced tipping floor and other site work. Questions or comments related to this solicitation shall be directed to the Procurement Manager before 2:00 PM on April 18, 2025. All questions shall be submitted in writing (email is preferred). Telephone inquiries will not be accepted. The initial contract period will be for 2 calendar days from the commencement date. Repairs and work shall be accomplished per the following conditions and specifications noted below. The contractor shall be responsible for its methods to ensure the final product meets or exceeds the original design standards and specifications for the Transfer Station's finished product. The contractor shall propose a full concrete floor overlay. Repairs shall include the removal and replacement of existing damaged concrete and/or steel reinforcement. The contractor will limit the duration that the floor is deemed out of service, including the required cure period to one (1) weekend (Saturday & Sunday). The contractor shall provide temporary toilets as needed. Demolition: All areas to be removed/replaced must be saw-cut to create a clean, straight line with existing areas. Floor drain grates shall be preserved for reuse. The contractor shall prepare the existing surface as required for floor replacement/repairs or overlay system. Replacement/Repairs/Overlay: The scope of work is based on dimensions of 72'x67' and is further detailed below: The volume of material included will cover approximately 4,900 sq. ft. with a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches. Saw cut and chip to create key at all termination points of the new flooring system. Remove any deteriorated areas completely as a part of the preparation process. Pour back low areas with extended material. Shot blast as required to remove any surface laitance and enhance the bonding profile. Mix and install 100% solids epoxy bonding agent and scrub into base slab as required. Set up screed system to specified thickness. 1.5" will be the minimum thickness applied in any area, with the low and worn spots receiving more material to raise it to the adjacent elevations. Mix, place, and finish Met-Top-E or EucoFloor 404 topping as required. Install control joints as required. Install curing compound as required. Install burlap or like material for the wet cure process. The schedule shall be coordinated with all parties before mobilization.Access to the work area from Friday afternoon through Sunday is assumed, with normal operations resuming on the following Monday morning. All work shall be completed in one continuous mobilization. The contractor will provide a 5-year wear warranty.
