The Work for which Bids are asked includes the following: The proposed project will include reconstruction of approximately 7,400 square yards of asphalt roadway by pulverizing, adding 3,000 tons of road base, undercutting 3,000 cu yds of the road crest, replacement of one box culvert with 14'x9' pipe arch, replacement of one 36'' CMP culvert, replacement of five (5) 12'' CMP driveway culverts (approximately 210'), replacement of approximately 85' of guardrail, installation of 1,600 tons of new asphalt, replacement of eight (8) asphalt driveway aprons, installation of 6100 linear feet of gravel shoulder erosion control and site restoration. There are no prevailing wage rates for this contract. Funding for this project is provided in part by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) and Dane County Bridge Aid. Bids must be accompanied by bid security in the form of a certified check or bid bond equal to five percent of the maximum bid price, payable to the Owner as a guaranty that if the Bid is accepted, the Bidder will execute the Contract Documents and furnish the required contract security. If the Successful Bidder fails to execute the Contract Documents and provide the required contract security within 15 days after the Notice of Award, the Owner may annul the Notice of Award and the Bid Security will be forfeited. Bids may not be withdrawn within 60 days after the date of the bid opening. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, and to award the Contract to the Bidder, who in the judgment of the Owner, will best serve the interest of the Owner. All questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents are to be submitted to Engineer in writing. Interpretations or clarifications considered necessary by Engineer in response to such questions will be issued by Addenda mailed or delivered to all parties recorded by Engineer as having received the Bidding Documents. Questions received less than ten days priorto the date for opening of Bids may not be answered.
