Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Sycamore, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
This is a paving project that includes milling and paving of Public Works Facilities at 375 N. Cross St in Sycamore, IL. It includes approximately 1,000 tons of asphalt. Location Scope of Work 475 North Cross Street- Entry and Parking Area _ Pavement Removal 2.0" _ Base Preparation (area on north side of Facility) _ HMA Level Binder - 0.75" and Variable _ Tack Coat _ HMA Surface 1.5" _ Area Reflective Crack Control _ Painting Pavement Markings _ Traffic Control 475 North Cross Street- UV Approach _ Base Preparation _ 2.5" HMA Binder Course _ Tack Coat _ HMA Surface 3" Becker Pl/Park Ave- Tower 1 - Paving at Tower 1 may be added depending on bid results. This is not intended to increase the scope of work by more than 20% _ Base Preparation _ 2.5" HMA Binder Course _ Tack Coat _ HMA Surface 1.5" SPECIAL PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 1. Work shall be coordinated with The City of Sycamore's Public Works Department. 2. 72 hours' notice shall be provided before the start of work. 3. Level Binder- Contractor shall prepare streets prior to paving by sweeping and removing any vegetation. MOBILIZATION This contract contains no provisions for Mobilization. Therefore, Mobilization shall be included in the cost of the Contract. JOINT UTILITY LOCATING INFORMATION FOR CONTRACTORS The Contractor's attention is directed to the fact that there exists within the State of Illinois a Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators (JULIE) system. All utility companies and municipalities which have gas mains and a number of others are a part of this system. Instead of notifying each individual utility owner that he will be working in the area, the Contractor can call the JULIE system at 811 or (800) 892-0123, and they will notify all utility companies involved that their respective utility should be located. A minimum of 48 hours' advance notice is required, and the Contractor will have to provide the political name of the township where the work is located (as shown on the cover sheet), along with other location information such as land section and quarter section numbers. CONTROL OF WORK The City has discussed the upcoming work with Public Works and have determined ideal dates alongside dates that work cannot be completed on. The contractor is responsible for providing a weekly written schedule. If no changes have been made to the original construction schedule, this can serve as the weekly schedule. If there is a delay of more than 5 calendar days, the contractor shall be responsible for any additional roadway repairs. It is expected for access to be permitted during this delay. CONSTRUCTION LAY-OUT The City will conduct the construction layout. HMA The City will paint out removal, paving and patching limits. Patches will be determined after milling and be no less than 4' in width Pavement Striping This shall be completed per the attached plan. The Engineer will assist the contractor with striping layout (Paint marks will be placed on the curb for parking stalls). PROTECTION OF EXISTING DRAINAGE FACILITIES All existing drainage structures are to be kept free of debris resulting from construction operations. All work and material necessary to prevent accumulation of debris in the drainage structures will be considered incidental to the contract. Any debris in drainage structures resulting from construction operations shall be removed at the Contractor's expense, and no extra compensation will be allowed. Should reconstruction or adjustment of a drainage structure be required by the Engineer in the field, the necessary work and payment shall be done in accordance with Section 602 of the Standard Specifications. During construction, if the Contractor's forces encounter or otherwise become aware of any sewers, under drains, or field drains within the right-of-way other than those shown on the plans, they shall inform the Engineer. The Engineer shall direct the work necessary to maintain or replace the facilities in service and to protect them from damage during construction, if maintained. Existing facilities to be maintained that are damaged because of non-compliance with this provision shall be replaced at the Contractor's expense. Should the Engineer have directed the replacement of a facility, the necessary work and payment shall be done in accordance with the appropriate sections of the Standard Specifications. INSURANCE Proper insurance shall be provided as required in Article 107.27 of the Specifications except that the City of Sycamore and their agents and consultants shall be included as an additional insured or provided separate coverage with an owner's protective policy. Proper certificates of insurance shall be submitted to the City of Sycamore. COMPETITIVE BIDDING PROCEDURE The City of Sycamore has adopted a competitive bidding procedure which applies to this project. A copy of Section 1-11-3 of the Sycamore Municipal Code.
