2025 Crack Sealing Project consisting of furnishing and placing 45,000 pounds of crack sealing material for bituminous streets at various locations in Sycamore, Illinois. All proposals must be accompanied by a proposal guarantee consisting of a Certified or Cashier's Check, Bank Money Order or Bid Bond in an amount of not less than 5% of the total amount of the bid. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive or not to waive any informalities therein. No pre-bid conference is scheduled Questions and Inquiries Mark Bushnell, City Engineer 815-895-4557 mbushnell@cityofsycamore.com This project consists of the routing of cracks for various bituminous streets and the sealing of same with a hot poured, rubberized asphalt joint sealer conforming to the standards and requirements of ASTM D 6690, Type II. The list of streets to be completed with this project is included herein, as well as a city map which has the bituminous streets highlighted in yellow. It is the City's intention to use all of the 45,000 pounds of sealant material. Additional streets will be added, if necessary. In the event the quantity of sealant material is not sufficient to complete all of the streets on the list, then those remaining streets will be included for future street maintenance projects. Work shall be completed in the following order 1. High Priority Crack Sealing 2. Medium Priority Crack Sealing This work shall be completed in accordance with Section 451 of said Specifications and shall include the routing, cleaning and proper sealing of all transverse, longitudinal and other random cracks in the existing bituminous pavement. There shall be no separate payment for crack routing. This work shall also include removing any of the loose and failed areas of any existing crack joint material. Where required by the City, the joint between the edge of the bituminous pavement and the edge of the concrete curb and gutter or face of the curb shall be routed, cleaned and sealed. All crack sealing materials shall conform to ASTM D 6690, Type II. The type and source of all materials shall be approved by the City before the contractor orders same. All materials shall be applied in strict accordance with the specifications and manufacturer's recommendations. The cracks shall be routed and cleaned and must be completely dry before applying the sealant material. The cracks shall be overfilled, and a squeegee shall be used in such a manner as to have a 2" wide band aid appearance with the edges feathered to be flush with the adjoining pavement surface. Areas in which the sealant is not filled to the top of the existing pavement shall be refilled and refinished in a neat manner. All necessary pavement sweeping will be completed by the City of Sycamore. All costs of this work including all equipment, labor, and materials for the necessary routing, cleaning and sealing of the cracks shall be included in the unit price per pound for CRACK SEALING, (HOT-MIX ASPHALT PAVEMENT) SPECIAL Please be advised that no contractual obligations can be fulfilled between October 19th and October 26th due to ongoing events within the City. In the event all work is not completed by November 1st, 2025, then the contractor will be liable and shall pay liquidated damages to the City of Sycamore in the amount of $200.00 per day for each calendar day of overrun in the contract time. The liquidated damages shall accrue and be assessed until all work is completed.
