The Work covered in this Specification is located on Fair Oaks Ave from Washington Boulevard to Montana Street in the City of Pasadena, California. The Contractor's work shall include the furnishing of all labor, material, equipment, apparatus, transportation, and all other services necessary and incidentals to the construction of all Portland cement concrete (PCC), permanent asphalt concrete, and rubberized asphalt concrete paving of water main trenches and water utility cuts, and the necessary installation of concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, gate valve cans, striping, and miscellaneous appurtenant work complete in place for the Water and Power Department of the City of Pasadena in accordance with the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction ("Greenbook") and Supplements and Modifications to the "Greenbook" and City of Pasadena Standard Plans, including but not limited to the following: A. Providing traffic control plans and traffic control approved by City of Pasadena Public Works for the duration of the project; B. Providing construction surveying; C. Removal of existing and replacement with new street concrete pavement and new street asphalt; D. Clean-up and miscellaneous housekeeping work as directed by the General Manager or his/her authorized representatives; E. Replacement of sidewalks, driveways, curbs, and gutters; F. Reinstalling all traffic striping, markings, raised pavement markers, and traffic loop detectors; G. The bond must meet the following requirements and characteristics: Bid security in the amount of five-percent (5%) of the total bid price in the form of a redeemable or callable electronic surety bond, meeting City requirements, must accompany all bids. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a bid proposal for a public works project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)]. 1.5. Required Licenses (Eligibility Requirement) Bidders must possess and provide the following license(s) or certification(s) to be deemed qualified to perform the work specified: Class A (contractor's License) license from the State of California 6.6. Labor & Materials Bonds Labor & Materials Bonds Required: 100% The CONTRACTOR shall begin work within fifteen (15) calendar days after date of the Notice to Proceed and shall diligently prosecute the work to completion in every detail, within 75 Working Days after the date in the Notice to Proceed with Work, exclusive of maintenance periods if any. Failure of the contractor to meet the delivery date will result in damages being sustained by the City of Pasadena. Such damages are, and will continue to be, impracticable and extremely difficult to determine. For each consecutive calendar day in excess of the delivery date the Contractor shall pay the City of Pasadena, or have withheld from monies due it, the sum of $1000 per day. Execution of the Contract shall constitute agreement by the City of Pasadena and the Contractor that this represents the minimum value of the costs and actual damage caused by the failure of Contractor to meet the deliver date. Such sum is liquidated damages and shall not be construed as a penalty, and may be deducted from payments due Contractor if such delays occur.
