This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.

The Board of Education of the County of Berkeley, Martinsburg, WV, is requesting sealed bids for Lawn Care Services for their Facilities and Maintenance Department. Lawn Care Specifications All areas must be mowed and "proper weed edge trimmed" during the same visit. Otherwise, they will not be considered complete, and payment for said campus will be withheld for that given week unless they are completed to the satisfaction of the facilities director. There will be no deductions or skipped areas. The school district will determine the frequency of mowing at the discretion of the facilities director. No subcontracting will be allowed on this bid for mowing on school campuses without the Facilities Director's prior approval for a given circumstance. Mowing areas: All road fronts, parking lots, road & yard curbs, sidewalks, and building foundations, free-standing structures, highway fronts, poles, signposts, and trees shall be weed-trimmed on the pavement. All rough areas, such as hillsides that have ruts and cannot be mowed by a standard zero-turn mower, shall be hand-trimmed with a weed trimmer at every mowing. Some far-outlying areas may be mowed at a taller height, but must be uniform and approved height by the Facilities and Maintenance director Any questions regarding specific areas to mow at each location should be clarified prior to bid submittal as the winning bidder agrees to mow the locations per the direction of the facilities director once the bid is awarded. In the event of rain and hills being slippery, the flat areas and immediate areas at the buildings can be mowed first, and hillsides and the outlying regions can be done the immediate next dry day, as is necessary to prevent ruts and safety concerns. If lightning is present at any time and/or it is evident that the yard is being rutted and/or damaged, then the mowing will need to be delayed until the immediate reasonable dry day it can be safely mowed. Our school district must be kept to the designated schedule, and we are not concerned with other company commitments. Our district is to be kept on schedule immediately following a rain event. It is important that mowing schedules be followed as close to schedule as possible, and rows of cut grass are not left on lawns. We pride our district on neat, uniform, clean yards, and appearance is part of our culture to instill pride in our students and community schools. Care should be taken to ensure all sidewalks, parking lots, and walkways are free of any mowing clippings. M/WBE's are encouraged to participate in the bid process. For more information about this project, please contact the Facilities and Maintenance Department Executive Director, Ty Tyson, via email at ptyson@k12.wv.us or by telephone at (304)267-3500 ext. 10301. If you have any questions or need assistance, contact Berkeley County Schools Purchasing Department at 004PurchasingBCS@k12.wv.us or by calling 304-267-3500. Berkeley County Schools reserves the right to extend the initial one (1) year contract for up to two (2) additional one (1) year periods at the bid pricing. The Board of Education reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time for unsatisfactory performance.
