Description: Bridge Replacements South 170th Street over Thorn Creek and 143rd Street over Tinley Creek 24-BREPS-00-BR Routes No B59 and B80 COOK COUNTY PROCUREMENT CONTRACT NO.: 2511-04170 LOCATION OF IMPROVEMENT The proposed improvements are part of the public highway system in the County of Cook, State of Illinois, located by section and routes before mentioned, and is indicated on the map showing the County Highway System on file in the office of the County Clerk and also in the office of the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, Springfield, Illinois. 170th Street Over Thorn Creek The proposed improvement begins near 1-94 at Station 115+12 on the centerline of 170th Street and extends in an easterly direction for 2,738 feet (0.52 miles). The project is located within the Village of South Holland in Cook County, Illinois. 143rd Street Over Tinley Creek - The proposed improvement is located in unincorporated Bremen Township, Illinois, in Cook County. The project limits extend approximately 500 ft. east and west of the bridge carrying 143rd Street over Branch of Tinley Creek. The bridge is located approximately 1,400 ft. east of Ridgeland Avenue. The project spans a length of 0.22 miles (1,150 ft.). DESCRIPTION OF IMPROVEMENT 170th Street Bridge Over Thorn Creek The improvement consists of complete superstructure and substructure removal and replacement, pavement reconstruction, pavement patching, pavement resurfacing, curb and gutter replacement, pavement marking, sidewalk construction, lane reconfiguration, curb ramp improvements, and other appurtenant work as required to complete the improvement. 143rd Street Over Tinley Creek The improvement consists of complete superstructure and substructure removal and replacement. The existing raised median will be removed and replaced with a painted median. The existing barrier wall and south parapet will be replaced, and the existing north parapet will be replaced with a metal railing. Also included in the improvements are storm sewer structure cleaning and adjusting, pavement patching, landscaping, signing, pavement marking, traffic protection and all other work as required to complete the improvement.
