The City of Pittsburgh Office of Management & Budget, on behalf of the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure, is soliciting bids for the removal of the Wilkesboro Avenue Pedestrian bridge. The structure spans over a ravine in the Brighton Heights neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh. The bridge has been closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic for many years and is in Critical condition. The superstructure and all towers are to be completely removed. The superstructure and all towers are to be completely removed. Substructure units may remain in place. Site access and project area disturbance is to be stabilized and restored. The approaches to the bridge are to be secured against further access by pedestrian and vehicular traffic under a separate contract. The chemical content of the paint coating on the existing structure is known to be a lead-based paint. All items containing lead or other toxic materials shall be disposed of as residual waste according to Pennsylvania and the local County Health Department requirements.
