2025 Road Program The work generally consists of milling, paving, curbing, reconstruction, and inlet construction at four (4) public streets. Bids must be submitted on the forms provided, and completed in strict accordance with the instructions provided. Each Bid must be accompanied by a Bid Bond, in the form of a Certified Check or Corporate Surety Bid Bond, in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the Bid Proposal made in the favor of the Borough of McKees Rocks. Only documents obtained directly from the Engineer will be valid at bid opening. A Performance Bond, Labor and Material Payment Bond, and Maintenance Bond in the amounts specified within the Contract Documents will be required of the successful Bidder. Bidders on this work will be required to comply with the Provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act 442. The Prevailing Wage Scale is included in these Specifications. Bidders on this work will be required to comply with the Provisions of the Public Works Employment Verification Act (PWEVA). Adherence to Instructions to Bidders is required. No Bid or any part thereof shall be withdrawn by Bidder for a period of sixty (60) days subsequent to the Bid Opening. Class 1 Excavation 1. Excavation as shown on the Standard Drawings, for roadways, shoulders, ditches, drainage structures, steam channels, and grade separation structures, retaining walls, and wingwalls. 2. Excavation, as indicated or directed, for benches and for the removal of existing pavements not being rehabilitated. 3. Excavation, as indicated or directed, for the removal of unsuitable material having a bottom width of 8 feet or more. 4. Excavation, as indicated or directed, to allow for the placement of topsoil. 5. Excavation and stockpiling, as indicated or directed, for the removal of topsoil other than the first 8 inches, which are incidental to the clearing and grubbing operations specified in Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Publication 408 Section 201. 6. Removal of unforeseen slides and rock ledges. 7. Removal of stone fences, piles of dirt or stones, individual boulders, and any portions of structures above the natural ground, when in excess of 1/2 cubic yard volume. 8. Full depth sawcutting of existing pavement to neat lines, as indicated.
