LOCATION OF PROJECT The project area is located within the unincorporated Monee Township in southeastern Will County, Illinois along Pauling Road over Interstate 57 between 250-feet west of N. Ridgeland Avenue extending to 55-feet east of S. Ridgeland Avenue. The gross length of the project improvements totals 1,255 feet (0.23 miles). The net length of this improvement is 1,255 feet (0.23 miles). DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT The existing bridge deck (SN 099-0204) will be removed and replaced. The existing culvert north of Pauling Road and west of I-57 will be extended to the north by 24-feet and the headwall will be replaced. Pauling Road will be resurfaced throughout the project limits. In addition, the existing shoulders will be widened from 2-feet to 4-feet. Guardrail will be replaced and extended along both sides of Pauling Road. A concrete swale/ditch will be constructed to direct drainage behind the proposed guardrail. Traffic barrier will also be extended underneath the Pauling Road bridge for safety improvements. A retaining wall will be constructed along the southern portion of Pauling Road between the east headwall of the bridge and to just west of the S. Ridgeland Avenue intersection. Drainage will be updated throughout the roadway corridor with new pipe culverts and concrete end sections. Pavement markings will be completed within the project limits.
