Site work and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Twin Falls, Idaho. Design plans call civil work for a bridge / tunnel.
As of June 2, 2025, per owner, the project is very preliminary. They are working on the environmental phase of the project. Engineering design team is identified and they are on schedule. Between now and July 2026 they await the Board decision to proceed. Environmental studies phase - NEPA Documents, is a 2-year process and taking place 2027/2028. There are no construction timelines or budgets associated with this at this time. Per Idaho Department of Transportation an exact location for the crossing hasn’t not yet been decided. Multiple potential sites will need to be studied to determine what’s best for both traffic and the environment. The next steps include holding public meetings, according to the department. They are hoping to have that scheduled for the end of June 2025. From the May 2024 board meeting identified a need for feasibility study. 3rd Snake River Bridge Crossing submittal to FHWA of notice of intent (NOI) for approval to begin the NEPA environmental impact statement document. ITD has been evaluating how best to take the next steps on project scope and resources for the Snake River Bridge Crossing project. Most recently, considering the USDOT’s expected NEPA environmental changes ongoing in D.C. during the first quarter of 2025, there is an opportunity to help expedite the federal process to complete environmental studies in large part due to regional consensus on the preferred alternative.
