The proposed project consists but not limited to, renovation of an existing building, demo of existing spaces, removal asbestos, all new Interior Finishes, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Fire, Furniture, Turn Key Project. No bids will be accepted after the bid opening has commenced. The City accepts no responsibility for any bids prior to their presentation at the date and hour indicated for the formal bid opening. No bid will be accepted after the date and hour named. Bidders may not withdraw their respective bids for a period of sixty (60) days after the receipt of the same by the City of Newark unless otherwise permitted by statute. Bids shall be in accordance with plans and specifications prepared by the City of Newark. All contractors named in this proposal, shall possess a valid Public Works Contractor's Registration Certificate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 34:11-56.48 et seq., at the time the proposal is received by the City of Newark. Pursuant to Newark City Ordinance #2:2-28.3 and 2:2-28.4, the contractor must set aside at least twenty-five per cent (25%) of the total contract bid price to a Minority owned Business Enterprise (MBE)or Enterprises plus an additional seven per cent (7%) to a Women owned Business Enterprise (WBE) or Enterprises; the total set aside (%) through either joint venture arrangements, partnerships, subcontracts, the purchase of goods and services or any other method available. The term (MBE) or (WBE) means a business independently owned and operated, as defined in City Ordinance 2:2-28.3 and 2:2-28.4, in which at least fifty-one (51%) percent of the stock is owned beneficially and controlled by persons who are African American, Hispanic, Asian American, American Indian or a Woman and certified as such by a governmental entity. Successful Bidders will be required to attend a meeting with and obtain a clearance from the City's Office of Affirmative Action prior to execution of the contract.
