Mulberry liftstation will have the generator upgraded to mesh with new pumps and electrical equipment. A review of installation of bar screen will be included, and if needed installed as part of the project. Finally, the forcemain discharging from the station will be upgraded. The generator is currently not big enough to handle the entire electrical load of the station, and the forcemain is undersized compared to the pumping capabilities of the station itself. These have caused back-ups in the commercial district of lower Mankato during high rain events. Upgrades to the station will help reduce the likelihood of back-ups into existing and new commercial buildings downtown. The screen is being reviewed as a way to reduce pump plugging at the station, which continues to be an issue, and causes the majority of overtime for liftstations. The project is included in the City's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of June 13, 2025, design expected in 2025 with construction starting 1st Quarter of 2026 and completion 3rd Quarter of 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
