Site work and new construction of a transportation facility in Mankato, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
This proposed action includes the construction of an ATCT that would meet the requirements outlined of the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization (ATO). This would include the construction of a tower structure at the location identified as Site 15 during the AFTIL study, a base building, appropriately sized, which would include offices, training rooms, and other support facilities for the operation of the Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) and the ATCT and a vehicle parking lot as required by the FAA. The new tower would be constructed with a controller-eye height to 85.83 feet above ground level (AGL), and a top-of-tower height of 115.83 feet AGL, and an elevation of 1,131.83 feet above mean sea level (MSL). The project is included in the City's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of June 13, 2025, project is still in planning stages. Environmental Assessment is available. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
