Site work for a water / sewer project in Brownstown, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Each Proposal shall be accompanied with a certified check or Bidder's Bond in the amount often percent (10%) of the proposal, in favor of the Greater Johnstown Water Authority. No bid may be withdrawn for sixty (60) days after the same has been filed with the Authority. All contractors must adhere to Act 127 of 2012 (Public Works Employment Verification Act). The Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Requirement are applicable to this project. The Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informality in bids received. Bid Packages must be clearly marked "PROPOSAL ENCLOSED" with job name and contract number on the lower left corner of the Bid Envelopes. Brownstown Tank Project specific requirements are as follows: Brownstown Tank Painting Contractor to remove any loose grouting and flexible sealant. Regrout between steel tank and concrete foundation. Any area missing grout shall be re-grouted and new sealant applied. Chime to transition area at the base of the tank should be sealed. The entire circumference should be sealed and included in the bid price. The Contractor is required to cover influent/effluent and drain line to protect grit and contamination in the line. The area where the roof and sidewall meet on the tank will need to have sika flex caulking applied to the entire circumference on the tank inside and out after it has been painted to completely close off the water chamber to the environment. This should be included with the bid price; any additional areas that require sika flex caulking will be addressed under the supplemental item. Contractor shall install a new 36" bolted shell manway with davit assembly 180 degrees away from the existing manway Contractor to remove existing overflow and install a new 8" steel overflow pipe. Overflow should be extended and weld standoffs every 8' to support the pipe vertically and horizontally to approximately 18" above grade with a 45-degree bend and terminate with a flanged 24 mesh screen non corrodible screen. Contractor to install a 4' x 4' x 6" thick concrete splash pad. Expose 4-6" of concrete ringwall. Any pits that are more than 1/3 of the plate thickness or over 1/8" should be welded and ground smooth. Contractor shall remove existing 6" line and install new steel 4" inlet line. Steel piping to extend 12" into existing vault and have a flanged end. Contractor to weld new piping to floor of tank base and make any modifications as necessary to install new piping. The new 4" steel pipe should extend 12" into the tank and end with a flange. Contractor shall remove existing 8" line piping and install new steel 8" outlet line. Steel piping to extend minimum 12" into existing vault and have a flanged end. Contractor to weld new piping flush with the tank floor. Contractor to weld stainless steel threaded studs (4) to tank floor to allow for a flanged removable silt stop to be installed and bolted on the outlet. Contractor to provide 6" high stainless steel silt stop. The contractor shall remove the existing flexible cable system and aluminum vandal guard during renovation and reinstall it after painting. Contractor to install (2) 5' long sections of OHSA compliant handrail at the shell access ladder transition. Shall install a spring-loaded safety gate across the opening Contractor to replace existing roof vent with an 18" frost free roof vent. Contractor to supply and install stainless steel mounting bracket and junction box for the level sensors. The level sensor to be supplied and installed by the Authority. Contractor to run (2) 1" rigid aluminum conduits, one from level sensor junction box to the base of the tank for the level sensor and one spare located adjacent to junction box to the base of the tank. All mounting hardware shall be stainless steel. Contractor to replace existing 24" square roof hatch with a new 24" steel roof hatch with 4" raised neck and 2" overlapping lockable lid. Contractor shall remove existing ladder and ladder cage and install new OSHA compliant ladder with non-skid rungs approximately 14-16'. Exact length to be field verified. Contractor shall remove existing interior ladder install new OSHA compliant ladder with non-skid rungs approximately 30'. Exact length to be field verified. Contractor shall remove existing roof ladder install new OSHA compliant ladder with non-skid rungs approximately 12'. Exact length to be field verified. The Authority will drain the tank for the contractor. The contractor is responsible for cleaning out any sediment in the tank. Contractor to remove existing painters rigging along the exterior or the tank. Contractor shall be required to perform a radiographic inspection on the new pipe welds through the tank floor to make sure they are adequate before painting the new floor and new piping. GJWA will provide the contractor with (2) flanged plates with 2" orifice openings for the 4" and 8" piping to allow the contractor to fill and disinfect the tank to obtain negative BAC-T and VOC results for a DEP partial operations permit. The remaining vault pipe work will be completed by GJWA at a later date. Contractor required to install the plates. GJWA will fill and drain the tank for the contractor. Contractor to remove existing fencing prior to tank painting. Completion- November 1,2025
