Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The kinds and approximate quantities of the major items of work include: 500 C.Y. of Excavation Class 10 Roadway & Borrow; 2,650 S.Y. of Modified Subbase; 2,650 S.Y. of Engineering Fabric; 2 Intakes on an existing storm sewer; 2,686 S.Y. of PCC Pavement & Driveway Removal; 2,274 S.Y. of 6 IN. thick fully reinforced PCC Street Paving; 412.2 S.Y. of Driveway. P.C. Concrete, 6 IN; 1,600 L.F. of 8" Longitudinal Subdrain including Porous Granular Bedding & Backfill; and other work normally required to complete a PCC street reconstruction project. Each bid shall be made on a form furnished by the ENGINEER and accompanied by a bidder's bond with corporate surety satisfactory to the City, a check drawn on and certified by an lowa bank or a U.S. chartered bank, or a certified share draft drawn on an lowa credit union, and filed in a sealed envelope separate from the one containing the bid and in an amount at least equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City of Mount Pleasant, lowa and may be cashed by the City of Mount Pleasant, lowa as liquidated damages in the event the successful Bidder fails to enter into a contract within fifteen (15) days after award of the Contract and post bond satisfactory to the City of Mount Pleasant insuring the faithful performance of the Contract. The bid security of the lowest three Bidders may be retained for a period of not to exceed sixty (60) days until a contract is awarded or rejection made. Other bonds or checks shall be returned after a tabulation of bids is completed. The successful Bidder shall be required to furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price, said bonds to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council; and shall guarantee faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the City from the claims and damages of any kind caused by the operation of the Contractor; and shall guarantee maintenance of the improvements for a period of two (2) years from and after its completion and acceptance by the City Council. A Notice to Proceed will be issued for the Work to begin September 2, 2025. The S. Adams St. Reconstruction - 2025 for Mount Pleasant, lowa, shall be fully completed on or before November 30, 2025. The Bidder agrees to pay as liquidated damages the sum of $300 for each consecutive calendar day after November 30, 2025, if all work is not fully completed. A contract will be awarded for all the work to the single successful bidder complying with this Notice and the Instructions to Bidders. The City Council reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and irregularities. Question Deadline 06/24/2025 All questions about the meaning or intent of the PROJECT Documents are to be directed to the Engineer. Interpretations or clarifications considered necessary by Engineer in response to such questions will be issued by Addenda mailed or delivered to all parties recorded by Engineer as having received the PROJECT Documents. Questions received less than ten days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered.
