Site work and paving for a road / highway in Saint John, Indiana. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The project is understood to consist of pavement improvements along US 41 from Ridge Road (RP 267+65) to 175th Street (RP 269+07) in Lake County, Indiana. Per the Stage 2 Plans provided by Hanson Professional Services, Inc. (Hanson), dated September 7, 2023, the project starts from Station 12+73.00, Line "US 41" and ends at Station 100+40.00, Line "US 41". The total length of the project is approximately 1.66 miles. The existing US 41 within the project limits is an asphalt surfaced, four lane bidirectional roadway with multiple turn lanes. The roadway is divided by a raised median or a grass median along the majority of the alignment. A center turn lane is present from north of Ridge Road to just south of 81st Street, for a length of approximately 0.42 miles. Curb and gutters are generally present at the edges of the roadway from the beginning of the project (Ridge Road) to Cabela Drive, for a length of approximately 1.15 miles. Various width outside and inside shoulders are generally present from Cabela Drive to the end of the project (175th Street), for a length of approximately 0.5 miles. Furthermore, exit and entry ramps are present at the northern end of the project at the SR 41 interchange with I-80/I-94. Based on the plans and information provided by Hanson, it is understood that the portions of the ramps with asphalt surface are part of this project and will be milled and overlaid along with the US 41 mainline lanes. Please refer to Appendix III and Appendix IV for additional project details. Based on the provided plans, it is understood that maintenance of traffic (MOT) is planned to be phased utilizing the existing mainline lanes. Based on the plans and correspondence with Hanson, it is understood that the shoulders are not planned to be utilized for MOT and interstate ramps will be closed with detours. As such, a detailed evaluation of the existing shoulders for the support of the traffic during MOT operations, as well as recommendations for shoulder strengthening, were not performed for this project. This report includes recommendations for overlay for the entire alignment and patching for the observed surface distresses. 2100238 P.E., 2100238 CONST Project Control No: 2100238 Federal/state No: 2100238 Location Hma Overlay, Preventive Maintenance Lake County - on Us 41 From Ridge Road to 175th Street (Rp 267+0065 to 269+0007) Completion Date: October 31, 2025 Qualifications: B(A) All Bidders Must Be Prequalified and Have Proper Qualifications and Bidding Capacity.
