A timeline for the award has not yet been established.** The project consists of upgrading obsolete and/or failing fire alarm systems to improve safety in 16 campus buildings, including academic buildings and support facilities. The University of California, Irvine (UCI) requests the qualifications of General Building (B) contractors or Electrical (C-10) Contractors who also hold a General Building (B) license wishing to submit DESIGN BUILD proposals for the FIRE LIFE SAFETY UPGRADES, PROJECT NO. 5113021 / CONTRACT NO. 9861193. The University's primary objective in utilizing the design build approach is to bring the best available integrated design and construction experience to this project. The University has determined that proposers who submit proposals on this project must be prequalified. Prequalification questionnaires will be accepted from General Contractors with a General Building (B) license and Electrical (C-10) Contractors who also hold a General Building (B) license that have completed comparable projects as described in the questionnaire. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. ESTIMATED DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION COST: $3,500,000 - $5,000,000 To prequalify, Contractors must agree to comply with all conditions including state prevailing wages, 10% bid bond, 100% payment and performance bonds, and insurance requirements. General Building (B) or Electrical Contractor (C-10) with a General Building (B) California Contractors Licenses are required. In addition, the University is committed to promoting and increasing participation of small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) relating to all goods and services covered under the awarded agreement, subject to any and all applicable obligations under state and federal law, and University policies.
