Rt 10, Rt 46 to Hillside Ave (Cr 619) Roxbury Twp, Morris County Project Background: The NJDOT Pavement Management System (PMS) submitted a Problem Statement for this roadway section identifying it as a highest priority due to poor pavement conditions, ride quality, drainage, and overall safety. Purpose and Need: The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate the pavement surface and extend the service life of the roadway. Preliminary Preferred Alternative (PPA): The preferred alternative selected for advancement is a 2" depth of milling and paving for travel lanes and shoulders. Survey: The cross slopes will require field survey. Field survey updates will be required in Final Design. Traffic Signal: There are four (4) signals within the project limits along with a signal on Route 10 EB at the railroad crossing. New curb ramps, sidewalks, crosswalks, signal heads, video detection, and pedestrian count-down signal heads, push button, P-77 cabinets with Generator Auxiliary Cabinets will be installed at several signalized intersections. Implementation of Passive Pedestrian Detection and Red Light Extension systems and its associated equipment shall be considered for the signals within the project limits. A lighting analysis is required for the signals. Drainage: All inlet curb pieces that do not meet the current guidelines will be upgraded. Corrugated metal pipes are located within the project limits and will be further evaluated for repair / replacement based upon previous completed video inspections and reports. All inlets and manholes will be brought up to match the final grade of the roadway.
