Relocate existing fire alarm system auxiliary connections to the new system then demolish the remaining existing fire alarm system. 2 Replace existing emergency lighting systems. .3 Provide new normal lighting as shown on plan. .4 Testing and commissioning for all new equipment. .1 Ensure to maintain continuity of existing fire separations where modified suite new scope of work. .2 Firestop and smoke seal where project modifies existing fire ratings, firewalls, fire closures, fire separations, etc at: .1 Penetrations through fire-resistance rated masonry, concrete, and gypsum board partitions and walls. .2 Edge of floor slabs at curtain wall and precast concrete panels. .3 Top of fire-resistance rated masonry and gypsum board partitions. .4 Intersection of fire-resistance rated masonry and gypsum board partitions. .5 Control and sway joints in fire-resistance rated masonry and gypsum board partitions and walls. .6 Penetrations through fire-resistance rated floor slabs, ceilings and roofs. .7 Openings and sleeves installed for future use through fire separations. .8 Around mechanical and electrical assemblies penetrating fire separations. .9 Rigid ducts: greater than 129 cm2: fire stopping to consist of bead of fire stopping material between retaining angle and fire separation and between retaining angle and duct, on each side of fire separation. .10 Openings around structural members which penetrate floors and walls. .11 Penetrations for the passage of ducts, cable trays conduit, piping, electrical busways and raceways through fire rated barriers, (walls and partitions) horizontal barriers (floors) ceiling assemblies, and vertical service shaft walls and partitions. .12 Gaps between floor and bottom of wall. .13 Mechanical and electrical recessed boxes in walls and partitions. .14 The material combustibility or the diameter of the penetration of wires and cables through a rated wall will be in conformance with the articles contained National Building Codes (NBC) 3.1.9.
