Renovation of a municipal facility in Barton, Vermont. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Barton Village is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors to provide installation services for various energy efficiency measures at the Barton Village Memorial Building. The tasks are based on an Energy Assessment previously performed by the village. The work will involve energy conservation upgrades including thermal envelope improvements, HVAC system updates, lighting retrofit, and renewable energy installation. Introduction To Whom It May Concern: Barton Village is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors to provide installation services for various energy efficiency measures at the Barton Village Memorial Building. The tasks are based on an Energy Assessment previously performed by the village. The work will involve energy conservation upgrades including thermal envelope improvements, HVAC system updates, lighting retrofit, and renewable energy installation. Please review the following Scope of Work and associated specifications to prepare and submit a proposal. Quotes must be inclusive of labor, materials, and any necessary permits to deliver a complete turnkey installation. Complete the Contractor Acknowledgement section II, Contractors may submit bids for individual items or grouped categories (scope items 1-9). Multiple contracts may be awarded. Refer to included specifications and scope of work for expanded information regarding installation requirements and details of work locations. Contact (OR) John Turner Consulting with requests for Information or details, contact information above. 1. THERMAL ENVELOPE IMPROVEMENTS Contractor shall: A. Perform building envelope assessment. Identify areas of heat loss, air infiltration, and moisture concerns. Reference assessment to aid in respective locations. B. Use appropriate insulation materials (e.g. spray foam, rigid board, or blown-in blanket cellulose) based on project specifications. Spray foam must be covered with intumescent paint. 2. AIR SEALING Contractor shall: A. Seal all joints, access holes, and other such openings in the building envelope as well as connections between building assemblies including, but not limited to wiring, ductwork, and plumbing gaps. B. Seal attic plane above second floor with a focus on top plates and joist connections. C. Seal all penetrations in the ceiling, basement or crawlspace with approved sealant. Narrow cavities of 1 inch or less that cannot be insulated must be air sealed. D. Address any leaks around the attic access hatch and install weather stripping as required. E. Seal all penetrations, joints, and gaps in the building envelope around windows, doors, utility penetrations, and other unsealed envelope penetrations using approved air-sealing materials. F. Apply spray foam, caulk, or weather stripping where necessary to reduce uncontrolled air leakage. Ensure continuity of air barrier and compliance with blower door test, if you do not have blower door John Turner Consulting can assist and provide guidance on a scheduled site visit.
