Belmont College - Industrial Trades Buidling A. All Drawings as well as the Specifications for all Divisions shall be defined as theContract Documents. Contractor shall review entire set of Contract Documents prior to bidding. B. Drawings and Specifications are to be considered as supplementing each other. Work specified but not shown, or shown but not specified, shall be performedor furnished as though mentioned in both the Specifications and the Drawings. C. Prior to submitting bid, Contractor shall examine all Drawings and Specifications to develop a complete understanding of the project scope. Contractor shall ask for clarifications during the pre-bid phase of the project. Failure to do so will not relieve the Contractor of their responsibility to perform all required work. D. Bid shall include any special phasing requirements related to the constructionwork as described in the Contract Documents. E. Extra costs which might result from deviations from the Drawings, so as to avoidinterferences, shall be considered a "Job Condition", and no additional compensation shall be considered applicable. In the event that such interferences occur in course of the work, due to an error, omission, or oversight by the Contractor, no additional compensation shall be allowed. Interferences that may occur during the course of construction shall be brought to the immediate attention of the Architect, and the Architect's decision, confirmedinwriting, shall be final. F. The following general terms as used within the context of the Contract Documents shall be defined as follows: 1. "Contract Documents" - The complete set of Drawings and Specifications for all Divisions included in the project. 2. "Drawings" - Drawings furnished as part of the Contract Documents. 3. "Contractor" - This Division's Contractor and the Subcontractors to this Division's Contractor. 4. "Construction Manager" - The terms "Construction Manager" and "General Contractor" are defined as this Project's Constructor and the terms are synonymous. 5. "Responsible" - To perform work required. 6. "Furnish" - To supply and deliver to the project site, ready for unloading, unpacking, assembly, installation, and similar operations. 7. "Install" - Work which includes the actual unloading, unpacking, assembly, erecting, placing, anchoring, applying, working to dimension, finishing, curing, protecting, cleaning, and similar operations. 8. "Provide" - To furnish and install, complete and ready for the intendeduse. 9. "Equal" - To meet or exceed the standards of the specified products or listed manufacturers. A. This specification applies to the installation of the automatic sprinkler systemBelmont Construction Trades Building at Belmont College St. Clairsville, OH. B. Provide and coordinate a confirming water flow test for the site in accordancewith NFPA 291, prior to submitting all hydraulic calculations/shop drawings. Include test results with the submittal. C. Provide a new 6 inch Class 52, cement lined, ductile iron fire protection underground service line from 5-feet outside the building as shown on the drawings. The Contractor shall obtain the Flushing and Testing Certificate, as required by NFPA 24, from the contractor installing the outside undergroundprior to connection of sprinkler pipe. If this certificate cannot be obtained, theContractor is responsible for flushing the outside underground. D. Provide a double check type backflow preventer in the room with the sprinkler riser for the fire protection service. E. Design and install a hydraulically designed wet-pipe automatic sprinkler systemthroughout the entire building in accordance with NFPA 13, all referenced codes, and the requirements specified within Division 21. The project area shall be fully protected. F. Provide dry sprinklers for areas subject to freezing as required such as cooler and freezer areas, loading docks, pendant heads off of dry pipe systems. G. Notify the engineer if additional areas of concealed combustible constructionare identified during the course of construction. H. Provide all alarm and supervisory sprinkler system equipment (e.g., flowandtamper switches) for interface with the building fire alarm system. The Contractor shall coordinate these equipment locations with the Fire AlarmContractor. I. Provide a fire department connection as indicated on the drawings. A. Coordinate all equipment installations with the building architectural and structural features and with the other trades to ensure a complete, supervised, and operational system. Review architectural plans to understand any varying, sloped, and open ceilings, soffits, or bulkheads throughout the building. B. The Contractor shall become knowledgeable of any phasing plan in place andbidthe job accordingly. A.
