Demolition, site work and renovation of a fire / police facility in Milpitas, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility; for the demolition of a fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.

The City of Milpitas ("City") will receive electronic bids for Police Department Locker Room Renovation Project. Summary In accordance of the provided plans and drawings, the scope of this project includes the comprehensive renovation of the existing men's and women's locker room facilities at the Milpitas Police Department, located at 1275 N. Milpitas Blvd. The work will focus on accessibility upgrades to comply with current ADA standards and the California Building Code (CBC), as outlined in the 2022 codes. The renovation encompasses modifications to the locker rooms, shower facilities, ADA-compliant shower stalls, and accessible paths of travel throughout the area. Improvements also include updates to the Police Department's first-floor corridor to remove or de-rate existing fire-rated assemblies where required for compliance. Construction will include demolition of existing non-compliant finishes and fixtures, installation of new floor and wall finishes, upgraded mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and accessible toilet and shower fixtures. The work is confined to the identified construction limits and is expected to enhance both functionality and accessibility while maintaining continuity of police operations. All construction activities shall adhere strictly to city-approved drawings and specifications, and coordination with city staff and design consultants will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. Work shall take place after-hours between 6pm-6am. Any work during normal business hours should first be reviewed and approved by the City Project Manager. Contractor shall attend regular meetings with the City and/or design consultants to provide updates to project agenda and comprehensive schedule of work to include critical path reviews, project milestone tracking, and two week look ahead of scheduled work. Staging and storage areas will be provided by the City within the Police Department's parking lot, exact area will be determined in the Preconstruction meeting. Path of travel to and from the work site will be established to prevent unauthorized access to high security areas and should be strictly enforced. Contractors shall make every effort to keep the path of travel clean and presentable for normal business operating hours. Related Requirements Specified Elsewhere Contractor and subcontractors must have the ability to obtain and maintain FBI level Clearance for access to the Milpitas Police Department Building through the City's LiveScan process. Bids shall be valid for a minimum of 90 Days after the bid opening date. There is no cost to register for or participate in City of Milpitas solicitations. It is the responsibility of each prospective bidder to obtain all bid documents for review before submitting a bid. Bids must be submitted on the City's Bid Forms. Any Addenda will be posted online. It is the sole responsibility of each prospective bidder to check online on a daily basis through the close of bids for any applicable addenda or updates. The City does not assume any liability or responsibility based on any defective or incomplete bid submittals. Solicitation information posted online may change without notice to prospective bidders. The final executed Contract Documents shall supersede any information posted or transmitted online. Bids will not be accepted from any bidder who did not attend one of the mandatory Pre-Bid Conferences. For further information regarding this IFB, please contact: Hank Terlaje Public Works Manager hterlaje@milpitas.gov Question Submission Deadline July 29, 2025, 4:00pm The successful Bidder will be required to furnish the City with a Performance Bond equal to 100% of the awarded Contract and a Payment Bond equal to 100% of the awarded Contract prior to execution of the Contract. All bonds are to be secured from a surety that meets all of the State of California bonding requirements, as defined in Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120, and is admitted by the State of California. Contractor License This Project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. In bidding on this Project, it shall be the Bidder's sole responsibility to evaluate and include the cost of complying with all labor compliance requirements under this contract and applicable law in its Bid. Unless otherwise provided in the Instructions for Bidders, each Bidder shall be a licensed contractor pursuant to sections 7000 et seq. of the Business and Professions Code in the following classification(s) throughout the time it submits its Bid and for the duration of the contract: License B - General Building Contractor with appropriate specialty subcontractors' licenses. The General Contractor shall complete at least 25% of the work. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
