Site work for a water / sewer project in Zion, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The work generally consists of Upgrading the existing aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) based foam- water sprinkler system currently protecting the thermal oil heater #1 and #2 at the North Shore Water Reclamation District Facility in the city of Zion, Illinois. Existing Ansul bladder tank and bladder, hydraulic concentrate control valve, swing check valve, concentrate isolation valve and foam/water proportioned will be demolished and replaced with new. The existing feed mains supplying systems, deluge valve risers, sprinkler pipe branch lines and 20 fire sprinklers that protect the thermal oil heaters will remain and shall be properly flushed, cleaned and inspected. The installation contractor is responsible for the removal and disposal of the AFFF flushing water and foam concentrate in accordance with local environmental regulations. The replacement SFFF foam-water sprinkler system is to be installed after the demolition of the old AFFF system. When the fire suppression system is out of service for more than 10 hours in a 24- hour period, the contractor shall provide an approved fire watch for the affected areas until the fire suppression system is back in service. The fire watch shall be provided at no additional cost to the owner. Per North Shore Water Reclamation District, the fire suppression system should be replaced and placed back in service during the summertime period of 2-3 days, when the facility is out of service. Outside of this period provide temporary water supply to a fire department connection via the means of a fire department pumper and/or tanker. Any impairments shall be coordinated and approved by local AHJ. All work shall be coordinated with the site management. All work that may disrupt building occupants or visitors shall be performed only during times coordinated with the site management. This includes but is not limited to saw cutting and concrete work, other noisy disruptive work, any odor causing work, or any other work that is disruptive work. PROVIDE COMPLETE AND OPERATIONAL FLUORINE - FREE FOAM FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM SHALL BE DESIGNED, FABRICATED, INSTALLED, COORDINATED, TESTED, AND PLACED INTO SERVICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPLICABLE CODES AND STANDARDS LISTED ON THIS SHEET, LOCAL AUTHORITY REQUIREMENTS, OWNER REQUIREMENTS AND THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. THE GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK: - REMOVE TWO(2) EXISTING FOAM CONCENTRATE LINES, RATIO CONTROLLERS (PROPORTIONERS) ANSUL ANSULITE AFC-3A AFFF (AQUEOUS FILM-FORMING FOAM) CONCENTRATE, HYDRAULIC CONCENTRATE CONTROL VALVES, COUPLINGS/FITTINGS, ANSUL BLADDER TANK AND BLADDER TANK MAIN DRAIN TO THE EXTENT OF THE POINT OF DEMOLITION AS SHOWN. - INSTALL TWO(2) NEW FOAM CONCENTRATE LINES, RATIO CONTROLLERS (PROPORTIONERS) VIKING USP SFFF (SYNTHETIC FLUORINE FREE FOAM) CONCENTRATE, HYDRAULIC CONCENTRATE CONTROL VALVES, COUPLINGS/FITTINGS, VIKING VFT BLADDER TANK AND BLADDER TANK MAIN DRAIN. - THE FEED MAINS, DELUGE SYSTEM RISERS, CROSS MAINS, BRANCH LINES AND SPRINKLERS ARE EXISTING TO REMAIN. - PROPERLY FLUSH, CLEAN AND INSPECT EXISTING TO REMAIN MAINS AND BRANCH LINES. THE INSTALLATION CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF THE AFFF FLUSHING WATER AND FOAM CONCENTRATE IN AN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS.
