The Bay Bridge Forward I-580 WB HOV Lane Extension Project (Project) proposes to convert approximately 2.3 miles of an existing GP lane on WB I-580 to a HOV lane. The proposed HOV lane will extend from the beginning of the existing HOV lane for the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Toll Plaza approach at the WB I-580/Interstate 80 (I-80) connector touch-down area to just east of the Broadway-Richmond Boulevard Undercrossing (UC). The Project is in Alameda Co=-0kj 2unty, and its limits begin at Lake Park Avenue Overcrossing and end at 0.3 miles west of the Route I-80/580/880 Separation in Oakland. The main components of the Project include the installation of pavement delineation; the addition of roadway signs and overhead sign structures; the removal and reconstruction of existing concrete barriers; the addition of guardrail to shield the overhead sign supports and foundations at spot locations; the repair of pavement potholes on bridge deck; and the modification of pavement loop detectors and replacement of flashing beacon. The overhead sign foundations will be constructed with Cast-In-Drill-Hole (CIDH) pile, dewatering may be required for the construction of foundation. The Project is expected to begin in September/October 2025 and be completed by May/June 2026.
