The City of Shelby is seeking qualified utility contractors to submit sealed bids for the Clegg Street and Miles Road Sewer Replacement Project. The City of Shelby would like your company to submit a bid for the Clegg Street and Miles Road Sewer Replacement Project located near the addresses of 310 Clegg Street and 306 Miles Road. The contact regarding this project will be Brad Greene, Water Resources Operations Manager for the City of Shelby. Prospective bidders may make all inquiries to obtain clarification of the requirements contained in this Bid Proposal Request. All inquiries must be submitted in writing by email to the following address: brad.greene@cityofshelby.com. All inquiries must be received no later than 4:00 pm on July 29, 2025. The project bid will be a unit price bid. Submitters must use the bid form provided. The project will carry a one (1) year warranty beginning at Final Completion. The contractor will be responsible for calling in utility locates in accordance with NC Underground Utility Safety and Damage Prevention Act. A preconstruction meeting will be required prior to the start of construction activities. The contract award will be based on the Project Total Price and the City of Shelby shall have the option to select one or both options (A and B) or reject all bids once the City of Shelby has reviewed the bid proposal. Below you will find the list of services that will need to be completed as part of this project. Pricing shall include labor and material for the following: Option A: Clegg Street (W. Graham St. to 310 Clegg St.) Sewer Replacement Project o Replace 325 feet of the existing 6-inch VCP and RCP with a new 8-inch SDR21 PVC pipe. o Replace 20 feet of the existing 6-inch RCP with new 8-inch P401 lined ductile iron pipe o Replace two (2) existing brick manholes with new four-foot diameter precast manholes. Manhole Depth range is 0-6 feet. o Replace seven (7) sewer service lines from the new sewer main to five (5) feet behind the existing curb or edge of asphalt. A new clean out shall be installed at the back of the curb or asphalt before re-connecting to the existing service line. o 485 linear feet of asphalt trench repair. o Third Party Compaction Testing o Install 12-gauge solid copper tracer wire on all newly installed sewer main. o Bypass pumping and equipment. o Suitable Backfill Option B: Miles Road (Graham St. to 306 Miles Rd.) Sewer Replacement Project: o Replace 295 feet of the existing 8-inch RCP with new 8-inch SDR21 PVC pipe. o Replace 20 feet of existing 8-inch RCP with a new 8-inch P401 lined ductile iron pipe. o Replace one (1) existing brick manhole with new four-foot diameter precast manholes. Manhole depth range is 0-6 feet. o Replace four (4) sewer service lines from the new sewer main to five (5) feet behind the existing curb or edge of asphalt.
