Request for Quotations - 1232SA25Q0150 The contractor shall provide a turn-key product including proper installation of all material and equipment per manufacturer's recommendations forinsulating an existing brick building and installing furring to support new 22-gauge exteriormetal wall paneling. The work includes surface preparation, insulation installation, furringattachment, and metal panel installation to increase the thermal efficiency of Building 2 at the NPARL site. The contractor shall work with the site personnel to ensure project is accomplished in a timely manner. All questions pertaining to this solicitation, including questions that arise during the site visit, must be submitted to Peter Nelson - peter.b.nelson@usda.gov no later than close of business 08/03/2025. The Contractor shall begin performance within 10 calendar days and complete it within 90 calendar days *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. a) Window Removal: i) Contractor shall remove existing (4) windows and fill voids with gypsum wallboard on interior and frame/cover exterior penetrations with exterior plywood. Seal all joints. b) Surface Preparation: i) Conduct a visual and structural assessment of the existing brick wall to identify cracks, spalling, or any defects that may impact installation. ii) Where applicable to enhance structural attachment of mechanical fastening, contractor shall seal all cracks, replace damaged bricks, and repoint deteriorated mortar joints as required to provide a stable substrate. iii) Power wash or wire brush the brick surface to remove dirt, debris, and efflorescence to ensure proper adhesion of insulation and furring. iv) Apply a vapor-permeable air and water barrier (AWB) over the brick substrate to prevent moisture infiltration while allowing breathability. c) Insulation Install: i) Install rigid insulation board (e.g., polyisocyanurate or extruded polystyrene or equivalent) with a minimum R-20 value. Thickness as required to achieve the desired thermal performance. ii) Mechanically fastened or a per insulation manufacturer's specifications. iii) Install and secure insulation using masonry fasteners (mechanically) and washers. Seams shall be staggered minimize thermal bridging and ensure continuous coverage. iv) Seal all penetrations, joints, and edges with compatible sealant or flashing tape. d) Furring Install: i) Install galvanized steel furring channels, minimum 18-gauge. Channels shall be vertically spaced per exterior metal panel manufacturer's requirements. ii) Secure furring channels to the brick wall through the insulation using masonry anchors at appropriate spacing for structural stability. Ensure furring is plumb and level to prevent panel misalignment. Install horizontal z-girts where required to provide adequate attachment points for metal paneling. iii) Where applicable, install thermal clips or stand-offs to minimize thermal bridging between the furring system and existing brick wall. e) Insulation/Furring Mock-up: i) Contractor shall provide a "mock-up" sample section of the insulation and furring system installation for approval before full-scale installation. f) Metal Wall Pannels Install: i) Install new 22-guage, flat, galvanized steel panels. New wall panels shall match existing trim. Final color selection shall be made by the Location Monitor. ii) Panels shall be attached by an exposed fastener system with corrosion resistant selftapping screws. Contractor shall install with thermal expansion allowances per panel manufacturer specifications. iii) Panels shall be installed plumb and level. Panel laps and joints shall be staggered to avoid continuous seams. Contractor shall install panels using the prescribed fasteners to ensure proper engagement without over-tightening and follow manufacturers recommend patterns for wind loading resistance. iv) Contractor shall install gaskets and sealants at all joints, transitions, or penetrations to ensure weatherproofing. Foam closure strips or butyl tape where requried for ais and moisture sealing is permitted. v) Contractor shall inspect all flashing and trim existing for proper water drainage and sealed joints. Where applicable, contractor shall use compatible sealant at compromised joints and transitions for weatherproofing of flashing and trim. vi) Contractor shall install flashing to match existing trim by covering vertical columns of the structure. Where applicable, contractor shall use compatible sealant at compromised joints and transitions for weatherproofing of flashing and trim. The USDA ARS requires that all labor, supervision, tools, and materials be provided to Install exterior wall paneling and insulation at USDA - ARS in Sindey, MT. All work shall be performed in accordance with the terms, conditions, drawings and specifications contained in this document.
