BPU has selected Bolton & Menk, Inc. to act as the Architect and Engineer (A&E). The primary objective of this project is to provide adequate backwash retention and reclaim capacity for long-term treatment of Brainerd's municipal water using technologies capable of meeting current and future needs. Brainerd Public Utilities (BPU) has current design documents (attached to this RFP) from October 2024. These documents will be used as the basis of design and will be used for rescoping the project with the selected CMAR to meet budget requirements for Brainerd. The major portions of the project include a new building that contains two 300,000-gallon backwash tanks, chemical room, electrical room, mechanical room, pumps, and piping with associated site work and yard piping. To meet budget allocations the project scope and tank size may be adjusted. The total estimated cost of the work to be completed is $5-6 million. Brainerd Public Utilities (BPU) is seeking proposals from qualified interested parties to provide Construction Management at Risk (CMAR) services for the Filter Backwash Reclamation Project. The project will consist of constructing a new backwash reclaim tank with a chemical room, electrical room, mechanical room, pumps, piping, and associated yardwork. The electrical and controls system for the plant will also be improved. The scope of work will be adjusted to meet the BPU budget. Brainerd Public Utilities plans to retain a CMAR firm to facilitate the cost evaluation, design, constructability, scheduling, and sequencing of work for the efficient use and proper allocation of available funds.
