This project has been cancelled. Roof Removal and Replacement Services in San Bernadino County. an estimated value of greater than $5,000.00, but not more than $461,000.00. A bid over $461,000.00 will result in rejection of your bid due to non-responsiveness Written Question Submittal: 08/20/2025 12:00PM Written questions must include the individual's name, firm name, complete address, and must reference IFPQ No. 08A3874. Questions must be sent to the following email: Email: Wendy.Kwong@dot.ca.gov CADOT: Roof Removal and Replacement Services in San Bernadino County Detailed Description of Work A. Contractor shall furnish all personnel, labor, tools, materials, parts, equipment, and travel necessary to complete the roofing project at the Victorville Maintenance Station. This project encompasses roof removal and replacement of one (1) maintenance office, one (1) equipment shop, and one (1) mechanic shop, totaling approximately 6,750 square feet (sq. ft.). Please see Attachment 2, Photos of the Caltrans Victorville Maintenance Station. B. Contractor shall meet with Caltrans Contract Manager prior to beginning of work to discuss work performance and to establish a schedule. All work shall be completed by Contractor within the time agreed upon at the Pre-work meeting, unless an extension is approved, in writing, by Caltrans Contract Manager. C. Before starting work, Contractor shall designate, in writing, an authorized representative who shall have the authority to represent and act on Contractor's behalf. Contractor's authorized representative shall be present at the work site while work is in progress. Contractor's representative shall provide a working telephone number to Caltrans Contract Manager prior to the start of work. D. Contractor shall obtain fire marshal approval, and any cost associated with fire marshal approval shall be included in the price quote proposal at no additional cost to Caltrans. E. Prior to purchase and assembly of any products, Contractor shall submit to Caltrans Contract Manager for approval product data, manufacturer's descriptions, factory mutual test reports, product specifications, and instructions for all products used. No work shall begin prior to product approval by Caltrans Contract Manager. F. Contractor shall work around the existing mechanical units, pipe and conduits. Caltrans staff will be in buildings while work is completed. G. Removal of Existing Roofs 1) Contractor shall sweep the roof. 2) Contractor shall carefully expose, remove, and dispose of the existing roofing material, sheathing, any damaged insulation and wood. Rain gutters and downspouts and roof extrusions, if necessary, will be removed and protected on site. 3) Contractor shall carefully remove the existing roofing material so that no damage occurs to the supporting roof deck, joists, fascia, or any other part of the building. Damage caused by Contractor during the roof removal shall be replaced with like material of equal or better quality at Contractor's expense, which shall include the same section depth, lip width, and gauge thickness of the member damaged. 4) Contractor shall remove and replace, if applicable, any existing damaged underlying materials such as rot/ water-damaged/dry-rotted sheeting, decking, plywood, shiplap, fascia, sheathing, planking, roof supports, or insulation with equivalent or similar materials, ensuring the replacement matches the same section depth, lip width, and gauge thickness of the damaged member. If the sheeting, decking, plywood, shiplap, fascia, sheathing, planking, or roof supports are exposed, they shall be primed and painted to match existing building colors. 5) Contractor shall obtain written approval from Caltrans Contract Manager for any work and replacement materials that may be required to repair hidden defects below roofing layer prior to starting such work or installation of the replacement materials. 6) All removed materials shall be legally disposed at a disposal site, at no additional cost to Caltrans. H. New Roof Installation 1) The new roof system shall be subject to Caltrans Contract Manager's approval and shall match the existing color. No work shall begin without prior written approval from Caltrans Contract Manager. 2) Contractor shall obtain written approval from Caltrans Contract Manager for any work and replacement materials that may be required to repair hidden defects below roofing layer prior to starting such work or installation of the replacement materials. 3) Contractor shall prepare the substrate, furnish, and install new roofing material, rain gutters and downspouts, fasteners, roof ventilation, and other materials which are required to prepare work area and to repair roof with a complete waterproof assembly meeting the performance requirements specified herein. 4) Victorville maintenance office, Equipment shop, mechanic shop, 6,750 square (sq) feet (ft). Seal all joints, screws and seams with three (3) course mesh, Silicone coat entire roof (per manufacture recommendations), Contractor shall install all new roof accessories, specifically rain gutters, molded pipe boots, T-tops, corners, T-joints, sealant pockets, drip edge metal, termination bars, and counter flashing. Replace damaged fascia board. 5) In the event that forecasted weather conditions necessitate a work stoppage, Contractor shall apply temporary protection, such as tarp or plastic covering, and anchoring such material with wood lath nails, staples and/or fastening devices to ensure the structure will be watertight until roof replacement can be resumed. Plastic sheathing shall not be less than six millimeters (6 mm) thick. 6) Contractor shall work around the existing mechanical units, pipes, and conduits. Caltrans staff will be in buildings while work is completed. I. Contractor shall only do the specific work that is authorized by Caltrans Contract Manager and as stated in this Scope of Work. If unforeseen work or repairs are discovered during removal and/or installation, Contractor shall request written approval from Caltrans Contract Manager prior to proceeding. Unforeseen work or repairs would not cover work already outlined in this Scope of Work. Labor for unforeseen work shall be at the hourly rate on Price Quote Proposal, Attachment 1, Item 2. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
