The Outdoor Aquatic Center project consists of phased improvements to existing facilities. Phase 1 includes upgrades to the existing bathhouse. Phase 2 involves the rehabilitation of the existing 50-meter pool and the reconstruction and separation of the shallow-depth pool. Add alternates may include enhancements to the admissions area, water slides, shade structures, site lighting, and landscaping. It is the only outdoor facility of its kind in the city. Almost three decades have passed since its 1995 renovation. Maintenance issues have arisen while pool design has evolved since then. As a result, the city has initiated a process to renovate the center again. The renovation project will include renovation of the existing 50M competition pool, new zero-depth entry leisure pool and the renovation to the bathhouse restroom and locker facility. The renovation will provide accessibility improvements and water feature updates. There are also several alternates being considered for this project including an Admissions refresh, slide replacements, shade structure enhancement, landscaping, among others.
