Renovation of an educational facility in Kent, Ohio. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Annex Exterior Stairs Replacement. The MACC Annex was built in the mid-1970s, and it has an abundance of deferred maintenance items related to the exterior building envelope. Three of the exterior stairs are exposed to weather conditions. These stairs have varying degrees of concrete spalling, cracking, exposed rebar, and other degradation. The steel guardrail systems have rust and other failure points. These stairs need to be removed and replaced in a like manner. The Program of Requirements ("POR") will be developed as a part of this project by the Kent State University Office of the University Architect acting as Criteria Architect/Engineer ("Criteria A/E"). This project will utilize the Design-Build Delivery Method, and shortlisted teams will be asked to supply a GMP as part of the RFP process. The intention is to take a single contract/GMP to the Controlling Board to expedite the project schedule. The building will remain in operation during construction. The construction schedule and sequence of activities must be coordinated with building usage to maintain proper egress at all times of occupation.
