SCOPE OF SERVICES: The Northwest Fire District is soliciting proposals for Solar Thermal Systems at Station 330 (Project A) and Station 332 (Project B). Work to be completed with minimal downtime and without interrupting the operations of the fire stations. Anticipated start date is projected for October 29, 2025. Offerors are encouraged to provide an offer for one or both projects. Both projects are outlined in the scope of services below. Existing Solar Thermal Systems The existing solar thermal systems at Stations 330 and 332 were installed to serve two purposes: 1) Provide hot water to the station 2) Provide hot water for the heating loop in the bays To provide for these functions a solar thermal system was installed when the facilities were built. Unfortunately, the solar thermal panels are not adequately sized to provide heating system hot water for the bays. If the system had worked properly, it would have provided a high percentage of station domestic hot water during the summer, and limited preheating of hot water for the stations needs during the winter. Multiple professional engineers have inspected the systems. They agreed that the systems would have never provided adequate production of solar hot water to contribute toward bay heating in the winter, and consequently, if hot water was sent to the bays from the water heaters it would cause problems with domestic hot water in the building. Both buildings do have a history of problems in providing domestic hot water for the buildings.
