The City of Orinda passed a supplemental sales tax in 2020 to fund a variety of programs, including roads, drains, and wildfire prevention and mitigation. Residents in Orinda are encouraged to "Trim, Stack, Chip!" As in, remove fire fuels on their property in the form of tree limbs, brush, and other combustible organic material, and stack them alongside the curb. Then, request an appointment for the chipping service through the online request form. For the past four years, the residents of Orinda have come to rely on the Measure R chipper program as a service akin to recycling and trash pick-up, as the program has grown in popularity and use. with the city's option to extend for two one-year terms. The contractor will supply their own hand tools and equipment.
