Site work for a road / highway in Mill Valley, California. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway.

The work generally consists of mobilization, traffic control, implementing a water pollution control plan, repairing/stabilizing roadway by repairing one existing retaining wall (along marguerite avenue) and installing one new retaining wall (along Edgewood avenue), clean-up of the project area, and other items of work as shown on the plans. 470 Edgewood Ave. & 119 Marguerite Retaining Walls Project is to be completed within thirty five (35) consecutive working days from the effective date of the notice to proceed for the base bid. Additional twenty (20) consecutive working days will be added if additive alternate bid item a is awarded. A bid bond in the amount of 10% of the total bid amount payable to the city of mill valley shall accompany the proposal. Award of contract, if awarded, will be to the lowest responsible bidder whose proposal complies with prescribed requirements, and will be within thirty (30) days after receipt of proposals. The provisions of public contract code 22300, regarding substitution of securities for monies withheld to ensure performance shall apply to this contract No pre-bid meeting is scheduled for this project. The contractor shall possess a valid class "a" license at the time contract is awarded. The city hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business and woman owned business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color or national origin in consideration for an award. It is the policy of the city to take positive steps to maximize the utilization of minority and women's business enterprises in all contract activity administered by the city. No bidder may withdraw its bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the date set for the opening of bids. The contractor shall utilize his best efforts to carry out this policy in the award of his subcontracts to the fullest extent consistent with the efficient performance of this contract. As used in this contract, the term "minority or women's business enterprise" means a business, at least 50 percent of which is owned by minority group members or women or, in the case of publicly owned businesses, at least 51 percent of the stock is owned by the minority group members or women. For the purpose of this definition, minority group members are black, hispanics, asians, native americans, alaskans or pacific islanders. The city reserves the right to reject any or all bids, and to waive any irregularities in the bids.
