Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Hayward, California. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

MBE = N/A WBE = N/A DBE = N/A It is our understanding that the proposed project includes the construction of an underground hydraulic structure on the stormwater drainage system that will be used to capture trash that enters the system from the overlying streets. The projects at both sites will include the construction of a weir, trash capture, and junction box, although the specific designs are different to account for unique site constraints. We understand that some additional storm drain pipe may be installed to connect the trash capture structure to the existing stormwater drainage system. Anticipated loads are understood to be the self-weight of the aforementioned structures filled with stormwater, the overlying soil, traffic loading, external hydrostatic loading, lateral earth pressure, and possible surcharge loading from the nearby railway. We understand the proposed structures will be constructed below-grade and require significant excavation to construct. The purposes of our geotechnical investigation were to identify key geologic and geotechnical aspects that could impact the project and provide geotechnical recommendations for design and construction of the Trash Capture structures. The scope of our services performed included: Review geotechnical and geologic site conditions based on the subsurface data contained in our files and provided by others, generally available geologic maps and hazard zonation maps, and other related literature. Perform a site reconnaissance to observe the existing site conditions from a geotechnical and geologic viewpoint. Conduct a field exploration program at the site, including one (1) 50-ft boring at each site. Perform geotechnical laboratory testing on select soil samples for classification, index, strength, and corrosivity testing. Identify the geotechnical and geologic conditions that could impact the project. Perform geotechnical engineering analyses. Prepare this report to summarize the results of our geotechnical and geologic data review, field exploration, laboratory testing, geologic hazards evaluations, and engineering analyses, and to provide geotechnical conclusions and recommendations for design and construction of the project. The data obtained and the analyses performed were for the primary purpose of providing geotechnical recommendations for design and construction of the Trash Capture structures. Chemical analytical assessment of onsite materials or groundwater for contaminants was beyond our scope of work. Detailed site flood risk evaluations are also beyond our scope of work for the current geotechnical study. The work to be done, in general, consists of implementing water pollution control and job site management; designing and implementing trench and excavation shoring plan; implementing traffic control measures; providing and implementing de-watering system, temporary underground pipe bypass; implementing vibration and settlement monitoring system; clearing and grubbing; demolition and removal of reinforced concrete pipe and channel wall; demolition and removal of asphalt concrete, aggregate base, concrete curb, and gutter, decorative pavers; off-haul and disposal of excavated material; furnishing and installing pre-cast reinforced concrete box culvert; constructing new cast-in-place outfall structure and underground reinforced concrete structures; furnishing and installation of trash capture device and bending weir, and outfall rectangular flap gate; furnishing, placing, and compacting structure backfill, Class 2 aggregate base, and asphalt concrete; restoration of concrete curb, sidewalk and gutter, and ADA ramp; coordination and compliance with UPRR and BART permit requirements; other miscellaneous related work; furnishing of all labor, materials, tools, equipment, mechanical workmanship, transportation and services necessary to complete said project.
