During t he progress of work, if subsurface or lat ent physical condit ions are encount ered at t he sit e differing mat erially from t hose indicat ed in t he Contract or if unknown physical condit ions of an unusual nat ure, differing mat erially from t hose ordinarily encount ered and generally recognized as inherent in t he work provided for in t he Contract , are encount ered at t he sit e, t he part y discovering such condit ions shall prompt ly not ify t he ot her part y in writ ing of t he specific differing condit ions before t he sit e is dist urbed and before t he affect ed work is performed.
