Renovation of a mixed-use development in Sierra Madre, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a swimming pool.
Project: The City of Sierra Madre, California seeks proposals from professional engineering construction companies and contractors with experience and expertise in swimming pool masonry repairs, renovations, and improvements. The City of Sierra Madre invites qualified contractors to submit proposals that comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing the construction of said outdoor aquatic facilities, including all associated agencies permitting such projects. The proposal must provide, but is not limited to, complete shop plans/drawings and construction cost estimates for the repairs and renovations at the following location: 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024. The City is seeking a company with commercial pool repairs and renovations experience, and experience working with public municipal agencies. Install a new pool deck and coping using masonry materials, including site preparation, material delivery, installation, and cleanup. Protect the site: Use tarps, plywood, or plastic sheeting to protect surrounding landscaping, pool equipment, and other property features from damage. Demolition, removal, and disposal of all construction debris materials. Disconnect and cap any plumbing or electrical lines that run through the deck area. Remove all necessary existing decking and coping, including concrete, pavers, or tile. Excavation and grading: Excavate the deck area to the required depth for the sub-base. Ensure the deck slopes away from the pool edge for proper drainage Structural foundation - Sub-base installation: Install and compact a gravel or sand layer to provide a stable foundation and ensure proper drainage. Formwork and reinforcement Install form boards to create the perimeter of the new concrete deck. Install a reinforcement grid of rebar or wire mesh for structural integrity. Masonry footing: Pour concrete footings or a bond beam at the perimeter to create a permanent edge restraint for the masonry materials. Masonry installation/coping: Install the copingstones or bricks around the perimeter of the pool beam, ensuring a slight overhang. Mortar all coping into place. Masonry decking: Install the chosen masonry material (e.g., pavers, travertine, or brick) in the specified pattern. Ensure all pavers or stones are level and properly spaced. Joints: Install expansion joints where the deck meets other structures to allow for natural movement. Fill all joints with polymeric sand, mortar, or a specialized sealant to lock the masonry into place and prevent weed growth. Sealing: Apply a masonry sealer to protect the surface from stains and weather damage Final cleaning: Clean the entire work area, including removing any excess mortar, and perform a final deck power wash. Inspections and approvals: Arrange for any final inspections by local building officials that are required. Walk-through and acceptance: Complete a final walk-through with the client to ensure all work has been completed to their satisfaction. Remove site protection: Remove all protective coverings from the pool and surrounding property.
