The City of Elko intends to solicit proposals from qualified architectural firms for the Elko Animal Shelter Project. The selected firm will provide Phase 1 Architectural Services, which includes conducting facility needs assessments, site selection/assessment, and conceptual design for the animal shelter. Tasks involve studying shelter operations, identifying space needs for current and future operations, determining interaction and adjacency priorities of operational elements, assessing existing and potential sites for suitability and growth, collaborating with staff to create conceptual designs, and providing estimated construction and furnishing costs (excluding site procurement). Upon completion of Phase 1, and subject to budget, the selected firm may be requested to perform Phase 2 services such as formal design, construction plans, bid documents, and construction management. Proposals should include: firm contact information, a description of qualifications and related project experience from the past five years, resumes of key personnel (including the project principal), examples and layouts of similar facilities completed, a list of relevant recent projects with contacts, and any supplementary information to assist selection. The City reserves the right to reject proposals and may select up to three firms for interview, ultimately selecting one for final recommendation based on quality, qualifications, expertise in animal shelter design, references, and other significant factors.
