Renovation of a municipal facility in San Bernardino, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment, travel, supplies, parts, disposal fees, permits, and incidentals necessary to provide roll-up door services to Caltrans. California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is committed to meeting the States twenty-five percent (25%) Small Business (SB) participation goal. Certified SBs, Micro Businesses (MB), SBs for the purpose of Public Works (SB-PW) and Contractors willing to commit to subcontracting a minimum of twenty-five percent (25%) of their net bid price to certified SBs, or MBs (if applicable) are encouraged to submit bids. The DVBE Participation Program applies, and a three percent (3%) participation is required for this IFB. The DVBE Incentive Program may also apply to this IFB. See Section D, Special Programs in this IFB for requirements. The total bid proposal for this Agreement must not exceed $461,000.00. A bid amount more than $461,000.00 will be deemed non-responsive and will be rejected. Questions regarding this IFB must be submitted by December 5, 2025. Bidders must submit their questions via e-mail to jean.mallare@dot.ca.gov. Payment Bond (ADM-2009) Requirement: If the successful bidder's bid is $25,000 or more, the successful bidder shall furnish a Payment Bond for not less than 100 percent (100%) of the total amount payable by the terms of this Agreement. Contractor shall remove two (2) existing commercial grade roll-up doors and furnish and replace with new commercial grade roll-up doors of correct size and design. New doors shall be exact or equivalent to the existing doors. Equivalence will be solely determined and approved by Caltrans Contract Manager. New doors shall include three (3) vents three (3) inches in diameter, evenly spaced on the bottom panel of each roll-up door. Each new commercial grade roll-up door shall include nine (9) vents three (3) inches in diameter x one (1) inches, stacked three (3) slats, one (1) on top of the other, evenly spaced beginning at the bottom panel of each roll-up door for a total of 54 sq. inches. Each Polyethylene insulation or equivalent, and commercial grade operators are to be installed. A. Contractor shall perform field measurements for all steps below prior to installations. B. Contractor shall provide their own personal lift equipment. C. Contractor shall remove and legally dispose of all existing doors and operators. D. Contractor shall be responsible for securing the work area after normal work hours to prevent unauthorized entrance into the shop building. E. Contractor shall furnish, deliver, and install two (2) commercial heavy duty rolling steel doors with insulated sectional steel complete with all related hardware with the following specifications: 1) One (1) roll-up door on the left side of the building at 19 ft. seven (7) inches in width by 15 ft. 10 inches in height. 2) One (1) roll-up door on the right side of the building at 16 ft. three (3) inches in width by 15 ft. 10 inches in height. 3) One (1) Wicket door section on the far-right side of the building that is three (3) ft. four (4) inches wide by 15 ft. 10 inches in height. The actual pass door needs to be three (3) ft. wide by seven (7) ft. in height. 4) Doors are to be 24 to 26 gauge (minimum allowed thickness) insulated steel sections with baked enamel finish. 5) Due to interior building design, all roll-up doors shall be a 'drum' style, such as Porvene Model 400 or equivalent as determined by Caltrans Contract Manager. 6) Each roll-up door shall have precision engineered springs for dependable, long-lasting operation. 7) Each roll-up door shall have steel ball bearing safety rollers. 8) Each roll-up door shall have an inside slide lock for security 9) Wicket door shall be fitted with commercial type lock and handle assembly such as Schlage ALX53L-SAT or equivalent as determined by Caltrans Contract Manager. 10) Wicket door shall be fitted with a commercial dead bolt such as Schlage B250R or equivalent as determined by Caltrans Contract Manager. 11) Wicket door handle and dead bolt will be keyed by Contractor to match. 12) Each roll-up and Wicket door shall have a weather strip on the bottom of the door for proper seal. 13) Each roll-up and Wicket door shall have pneumatic safety reversing strip edges or an electronic monitored reversing edge system. 14) Each roll-up and Wicket door color shall be Desert Sand or equivalent and approved by Caltrans Contract Manager. F. Contractor shall install new track securely to the wall and interior/exterior structure of the building per manufacturer recommendations, using existing attachment points that current track system utilizes. G. Contractor shall install the two (2) new roll-up doors into the existing opening and secure the spring assembly and panels in place. H. Contractor shall furnish, deliver, and install two (2) new chain hoist motor operators with safety photo eyes for doors described in Section 7.E. with the following specifications: 1) Floor level chain hoist with electrical interlock for emergency manual door operation. 2) Three (3) button control station (with open/close/stop controls). 3) High starting torque continuous-duty motor with overload protection. 4) 24VAC control circuit for safety. 5) Adjustable friction clutches to prevent damage if the door is obstructed. 6) Limit switch to stop the door at the open/close position. 7) Self-locking drive mechanism. I. Contractor shall install each controller following the manufacturer's recommendations. J. After installation, Contractor shall lubricate all moving parts, adjust the tension on the springs for easy operation, tighten all hardware, and perform an inspection and safety check to insure safe and proper operation of the complete door system. K. Contractor shall follow all applicable building codes as they apply to servicing, installing, or repairing any referenced work in this Exhibit A, Scope of Work. L. Upon completion of work, Contractor shall inform Caltrans Contract Manager that work is ready for inspection and approval. Caltrans Contract Manager must sign off on work to ensure installation has been completed and the door units are operating as designed. If the work does not meet the standards of Caltrans Contract Manager, Contractor shall be called back to complete the work at no additional cost to Caltrans. M. Contractor shall provide Caltrans Contract Manager copies of the operation and maintenance instructions with parts lists for the commercial grade roll-up doors and operators.
