School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties is soliciting competitive sealed bids from qualified contractors to remove four (4) existing water heaters and install four (4) new commercial water heaters. The water heaters to be removed/installed are at (1) Leaphart Elementary School, (1)Dutch Fork Elementary School and (2)Dutch Fork Middle School. QUESTIONS & SUBSTITUTION REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY October 03, 2025 @ 12:00 pm Electronically to D5bids@lexrich5.org SCOPE OF WORK: School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties is soliciting competitive sealed bids from qualified contractors to remove four (4) existing water heaters and install four (4) new commercial water heaters. The water heaters to be removed/installed are at the following locations: one (1) at Leaphart Elementary School, one (1) at Dutch Fork Elementary School, and two (2) at Dutch Fork Middle School. The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, services, transportation, materials, and supplies necessary to perform the work. BRAND NAME OR EQUAL: Any manufacturer’s names, trade names, brand names or catalogue numbers used in the specifications are for the purpose of describing and establishing general performance and quality levels. Such references are not intended to be restrictive. Offerors are invited to use these and equivalent brands or products provided the quality of the proposed products meet or exceed the quality of the specifications listed for any item. If submitting an equal, the vendor must submit detailed descriptive literature with their offer. The District will determine if the equal meets all required specifications. The bid packet must include a list of all the proposed products. SPECIFICATIONS: The objective of this project is to replace existing water heaters with new units that incorporate commercial off-theshelf components and equipment, ensuring ease of routine maintenance and repair by the district's maintenance personnel or contracted service providers. The new water heaters shall be compatible with the current utility connections, requiring minimal reconfiguration of existing piping and conduit systems. The contractor is responsible for verifying the exact locations of all utility hookups prior to installation to ensure proper integration with the existing infrastructure. 1. The Contractor shall be responsible for the following: a. Drain, remove, and properly dispose of the existing water heaters in accordance with applicable regulations. b. Supply and install new commercial water heaters, including all necessary new lines, according to manufacturer's installation guidelines and recommendations. New water heaters shall be installed in the space where the existing water heaters are located. c. Install new piping to water heater and connect it to the existing plumbing lines, ensuring secure and leak-free integration. d. Remove and replace all old valves with new valves that meet current standards and are compatible with the new equipment. e. Install a vent line boot to ensure proper ventilation and compliance with code requirements. f. Perform equipment startup, testing, and commissioning to verify proper operation.
