The work includes the furnishing of all labor, material and equipment necessary or required to complete the interior and exterior preparation and painting of a 145,000 gallon clearwell and aerator, 145,000 gallon backwash tank, and horizontal tank as set forth in these Specifications. A Certified Check, Bid Bond or Cashier's Check drawn to the order of the Borough of Berlin for ten percent (10%) of the total amount bid, provided said security need not be more than $20,000.00. A. 145,000 Gallon Clearwell and Aerator 1. Surface preparation and repainting of the interior wet surfaces, as per Section 9950. 1. Surface preparation and repainting of the exterior surfaces including clearwell, aerator, and aerator structure, as per Section 9970. 2. Surface preparation and repainting of the pump house piping, as per Section 9960. 3. Painting of the Berlin Borough logo and repainting of the water identification number. 4. Mobilization as per Section 1505. 5. Apply sealer, such as CIM 1000 or equivalent, to bottom 4" of shell and 4" out from shell on exposed foundation, as per Section 7900. 6. Replace top elbow of 8" diameter overflow pipe and add standoff support at top of overflow pipe, as per Section 5500. 7. Install new hinged overflow discharge flap gate in place of final elbow of overflow pipe, and new stainless steel #24 wire mesh screen, as per Section 5500. 8. Install grating on overflow vault, as per Section 5500. 9. Install external davit arm or hinge on existing 24" shell manhole, as per Section 5500. 10. Install new 30" diameter bolted shell manhole with external hinge or davit arm, as per Section 5500. 11. Extend existing shell ladder to ground, as per Section 5500. 12. Add new concrete landing pad under shell ladder, as per Section 7900. 13. Install new 8 'aluminum ladder guard at base of existing shell ladder, as per Section 5500. 14. Install a new galvanized steel flexible cable safety climb device on existing shell ladder, as per Section 5500. 15. Install self-closing swing gate at ladder cage to handrail transition at lower catwalk, as per Section 5500. 16. Replace existing 24" x 16" bolted plate at top of shell, as per Section 5500. 17. Seal opening around conduit penetration at top of shell, as per Section 5500. 8. Extend lower catwalk handrail height to match height of higher catwalk handrail (total height of 97"), as per Section 5500. 19. Replace 18" wide ladder between lower and higher catwalk levels, as per Section 5500. 20. Remove four (4) roof manholes and replace with two (2) new 24" x 24" roof manholes, with no less than a 6" high rain lip. One manhole will replace the center manhole over the interior ladder and the other will replace the manhole in front of the aerator pipe. Manhole hinges shall be oriented so that the cover swings open towards the center roof vent, as per Section 5500. 21. Replace level sensor and route conduit through existing conduit channel, as per Section 5500. 22. Replace existing 12" standard roof vent with 18" diameter flanged neck and reinforcement pad. Install 18" diameter aluminum pressure vacuum, as per Section 5500. 23. Remove box on aerator intake pipe and seal nozzle penetration, as per Section 5500. 24. Seal manholes, and install new gaskets and galvanized nuts and bolts on all manholes as per Section 13900. OPTIONAL REPAIRS (IF REQUIRED): 25. Perform twenty (20) hours of interior pit and/or seam welding as directed by Inspector, as per Section 5500. 26. Perform interior pit filling using five (5) gallons of 100% solids epoxy surfacing compound, as directed by Inspector, as per Section 9950. B. 145,000 Gallon Backwash 1. Surface preparation and repainting of the interior wet surfaces, as per Section 9950. 2. Surface preparation and repainting of the exterior surfaces, as per Section 9970. 3. Repainting of the water identification number. 4. Mobilization as per Section 1505. 5. Apply sealer, such as CIM 1000 or equivalent, to bottom 4" of shell and 4" out from shell on exposed foundation, as per Section 7900. 6. Replace ball valve on drainage pipe with gate valve as per Section 5500. 7. Remove ladder cage bolts and weld ladder cage and ladder standoff, as per Section 5500. 8. Install new 8 'aluminum ladder guard at base of existing shell ladder, as per Section 5500. 9. Install a new galvanized steel flexible cable safety climb device on existing shell ladder, as per Section 5500. 10. Remove conduit attachments and grind flush, as per Section 5500. All bid guarantees shall be accompanied by an executed consent from an approved surety company, licensed to conduct business in the State of New Jersey, agreeing to furnish the required Performance and Maintenance Bond upon the award of contract.
