Paving and renovation of an educational facility in Blacksburg, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a one-story above grade educational facility.

A. The Work of this Contract involves the replacement of the existing low-slope EPDM roof systems, applying liquid roofing at three entrance roofs, and rooftop lightning protection system installation at Cheatham Hall located at 310 W. Campus Drive on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia. B. Include all Work listed in these Specifications and incidentals thereto. Require that all the Work be executed by skilled craftsmen experienced in their respective trades. C. The Contractor may subcontract any phase or portion of the Work. However, each Subcontractor must be approved by the Owner and such subcontract shall not relieve Contractor from enforcing the use of all required safety equipment by Subcontractor and its employees providing any phase of the Work. Require and verify that all materials and methods used by Subcontractor are consistent with materials, methods, and procedures specified in the Contract Documents. D. The Contractor shall ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Virginia Tech's requirements. The Owner and A/E are not responsible for enforcing safety. Jobsite safety is the sole responsibility of the Contractor. E. Before moving equipment or materials over the roof, protect the roof from damage. Movement of equipment and materials without roof protection shall cause the Work to stop until protection is provided, and any damage has been corrected. F. Contractors shall under no circumstances damage or disturb suspect or known friable asbestos-containing material (ACM) unless they are a licensed Virginia Asbestos Abatement Contractor and have been specifically employed to perform asbestos repair or removal for the University.
