Contract work will consist of maintenance dredging of the Salem River federal navigation channel in Salem, NJ, to the authorized depth of 17 ft MLLW plus 2 ft overdepth, using non-contour dredging. The turning basin will be dredged to 16 ft MLLW plus 1 ft overdepth. Approximately 150,000 cubic yards of fine-sand and silty sediment will be removed from the channel and turning basin. Dredged sediments will be placed at designated locations within the US Fish and Wildlife Service's Supawna Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, Goose Pond area, with the turning basin material potentially placed at Tilbury Island. The contractor must have specialized experience in beneficial use placement of dredged sediments in sensitive marsh environments and demonstrate prior experience with environmentally sensitive coastal marshes and wetlands. No dredging may occur between March 1 and June 30 due to environmental restrictions. The estimated period of performance is 300 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineer (USACE), Philadelphia District (NAP), anticipates a requirement for Maitenance Dredging of the Salem River in Salem, NJ.
