Contract work consists of maintenance dredging of the Absecon Inlet federal channel, Clam Creek portion, to a required depth of 14 feet MLLW with 1 foot allowable overdepth. Approximately 61,640 cubic yards of fine-sand and silty sediment will be removed from Station 0+000 at the entrance through Station 2+500, with beneficial-use placement of dredged material at designated locations on Boot Island. Optional placement-site containment measures may include use of a compact track loader, turbidity curtains, coir logs, weirs, and hay bales. All work must occur between 15 September and 31 December due to environmental restrictions. Contractors must use the Resident Management System and must demonstrate satisfactory completion of at least two dredging projects within the past ten years involving beneficial-use placement techniques such as marsh restoration or habitat creation on environmentally sensitive coastal marshes and wetlands. The performance period is 270 calendar days from notice to proceed.
