Provide multi-use path (bicycle and pedestrian) between Wilder Road and Downtown, overall a distance of approximately one mile, from Wilder Rd./Orinda Fields Ln. to Moraga Way (via Brookwood Dr.). This project was included as a "Vision Project" in the 2011 BTW Master Plan. Agreements, permits and coordination with Caltrans required. A key benefit would be a safe bike connection when compared to the current highway bike use that Caltrans currently allows between Wilder Road eastbound Hwy. 24 on ramp and the Brookside/Moraga Way off ramp. Easements will be required from Caltrans and possibly private properties. Coordination with the Brookwood Walkway project is required. This is a long-term project and the first step has been completed through an MTC grant-funded conceptual study prepared by Kimley-Horn, which estimated a construction cost of at least $20 million. Staff will continue to pursue grants, however the project is unfunded at the present time. The project is included in the City's 2026 - 2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
