DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. The location of the work is: Various Locations within Salt Lake City Water Service Area as shown in Inventory 1 - Investigation and Pothole Locations and Inventory 2 - Service Line Replacement B. The work to be performed consists of furnishing and installing the equipment, facilities, services, and appurtenances indicated in the Contract Documents. Work of this Construction Contract comprises but is not limited to: B. Vacuum excavations and visual identification of water service line materials on both privately owned and Salt Lake City owned service lines as detailed in 02 22 01 - Investigation. The work to be performed consists of vacuum (hydo or air) excavations (potholing) up to 2,400 water service line locations, approximately 1,200 water service line locations per selected CONTRACTOR, of unknown material throughout the City's water service area. It is expected that two (2) vacuum excavations will be required at each location, with the possibility of additional vacuum excavations needed due to obstructions (i.e. roots, large rocks, etc.) preventing access to the water service line for material identification, to identify service line material and to ensure the service line isn't comprised of multiple materials. 1. The 1,025 known locations of the pothole work shown in Inventory 1 - Investigation and Pothole Locations. 2. CONTRACTOR to perform vacuum excavation on the City service line and vacuum excavation on the private service line as shown in Inventory 1 - Investigation and Pothole Locations to identify lead and galvanized requiring replacement service lines. 3. Contractor to pothole 160 locations shown in Inventory 2 - Water Service Lines. 4. SLCDPU will provide additional 1,375 pothole locations at a later date. C. This Contract will also include the replacement of approximately 160 lead service lines, approximately 80 per selected CONTRACTOR, and incidental repairs from the water meter to the building as detailed in 33 12 13 - Water Service Connections. Additionally, per the request of the OWNER, CONTRCTOR may be asked to replace 25 Emergency Replacement water service lines and up to 25 additional lead water service lines found during potholing. 1.
