The Utilities Department is requesting proposals for professional engineering services for City of Topeka Water Main Improvement Project Gage Boulevard between Willow Brook Drive and Rose Hill Lane. The services include providing engineering design and construction documents for a water main improvement project. The City of Topeka (City) provides potable water service to approximately 58,000 retail accounts, five rural water districts (RWDs), and the Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority. The estimated service area population, including the population served via the RWDs, is approximately 174,000 people. The City owns and maintains a 63-MGD water treatment plant, nine booster pumping facilities, 11 distribution storage facilities, and almost 900 miles of distribution system piping. The Utilities Department is responsible for planning, constructing, operating, and maintaining all water supply, treatment, and distribution facilities in the system, and for monthly billings for the water, wastewater, and storm water services, as well as for Shawnee County Solid Waste services. This project completes the 12-inch main along Gage Boulevard between SW 37th Street and I-470, filling a critical gap in the transmission piping that serves the surrounding area, including commercial properties and apartments. This Project will produce a set of drawings and a project manual for a water main improvement project. The Project will be designed and constructed in accordance with the City of Topeka and Shawnee County Standard Technical Specifications. Basic Services provided may include, but are not limited to the following: A. Study Phase Services 1. Perform a brief study to determine the optimal, most cost-effective route and alignment to complete the 12 inch-main along Gage Boulevard between SW Willow Brook Drive and SW Rose Hill Lane, this project will fill a gap in transmission piping for an area with commercial properties and apartments. 2.
