The City of Sunnyvale is seeking proposals from licensed Engineering firms to provide professional services for design and preparation of bid documents and construction support for improvements to the aged primary effluent pipeline at their Water Pollution Control Plant. The scope of work includes design and bidding/construction/commissioning support, project management, conducting workshops, preparing NEPA and CEQA documentation, preparing permit applications, performing geotechnical investigation and interpretation, construction cost estimating, schedule development, design and construction phase site visits, and inter-project coordination meetings with the Construction Manager and Environmental Services Department. The preferred alternative involves replacing the above-grade section of the primary effluent pipeline with a floating pipeline, cleaning the existing section and leaving it in place for emergency use, removing and replacing certain manholes, rehabilitating the upstream siphon and an existing manhole, replacing the downstream siphon with a new outfall, cleaning and abandoning the existing downstream siphon in place, and installing gated connections for emergency conditions.
